Di origine siciliana si trasferisce a Torino con la famiglia in giovane età dove si diploma in composizione, direzione di coro e didattica della musica presso il Conservatorio “G.Verdi”. Si specializza inoltre in arrangiamento e composizione Jazz alla Berkley School di Boston (USA).

In qualità di pianista durante la sua lunga carriera artistica, ha maturato diverse esperienze musicali.collaborando con Rai Tre nella trasmissione a puntate dal titolo “ Mestieri di vivere” nonché con diversi gruppi jazz-rock e pop tra i quali Roberto Petaccia’s quartet, April garden, Quinta faccia, The Tramps ecc.ecc. con i quali si è esibito in giro per il mondo (Corea del sud, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Guam,Venezuela, Israele, Giappone ,Inghilterra, Francia, Germania, Portogallo) in prestigiosi locali e teatri.

Autore assieme a Stefania Piovesan(cantante) dell’ Inno dei volontari (voglio esserci) Torino 2006- xx edizione dei Giochi Olimpici.

In qualità di compositore ha realizzato un disco di sonorizzazioni dal titolo“ World’s sounds” per Rai Trade, “Fantasia” per la Fonit cetra, le musiche per il cortometraggio “La Saponetta” diretto da Vittoria Castagneto, presentato al Festival di Cannes nella sezione cortometraggi nell’anno 2000, ha collaborato al disco “L’era dei replicanti” del cantautore Mariano Deidda distribuito dalla Sony Music.

Attualmente collabora in qualità di pianista, arrangiatore e coautore delle musiche al progetto “ Deidda interpreta Pessoa” prodotto dal Maestro Vince Tempera. Questo progetto, al quale hanno collaborato musicisti di fama internazionale quali Miroslav Vitus (contrabbassista storico dei Wether Report), Enrico Rava (trombettista), Gianni Coscia (fisarmonicista), Stefano Bagnoli (batterista), Celina Pereira (cantante portoghese), Danilo Pala (sax) e Ines Hrelja (violoncello), ha portato alla realizzazione di due dischi e si prevede l’uscita del terzo nel 2005.

Tutta la critica musicale specializzata sta elogiando questo lavoro per la sua alta qualità artistica.Nel Giugno 2004 ha partecipato come ospite, assieme a Deidda, al “Premio Recanati” trasmesso da Rai Tre.

Born in Sicily, Nino La Piana moved to Turin with his family when he was very young. There he obtained a diploma in composition, choir direction and music teaching at the “G.Verdi” Conservatory. Furthermore he specialized in arrangement and Jazz composition at the Berkley school of Boston (USA).

During his long piano-player career, he matured many musical experiences also co-operating with Rai Tre with the serial programme called “Mestieri di Vivere” (Crafts of Living). The artist also collaborated with many jazz-rock and pop bands such as Roberto Petaccia’s Quartet, April garden, Quinta Faccia, The Tramps and many others, performing around the world (South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Guam, Venezuela, Israel, Japan, Great Britain, France, Germany, Portugal) in very famous theatres and clubs.

As a composer he is the author of the volunteers hymn for the 2006 Turin Olympic Games (XX edition).

The artist also realized an album of sonorizations called “World’s Sounds” for Rai Trade and the album “Fantasia” for Fonit Cetra. Further, he worked out the music of the short film “La Saponetta” directed by Vittoria Castagneto and presented at the Cannes Festival in the short film section in 2000. He collaborated to the realization of the album “L’era dei Replicanti” by the Italian singer Mariano Deidda, distributed by Sony Music.

At present, he co-operates as a piano-player, arranger and co-author to the music of the project “Deidda interpreta Pessoa”, produced by the conductor Vince Tempera. Very famous international musicians were involved in this project, such as the Weather Report’s well-known double-bass player Miroslav Vitus,  the trumpet-player Enrico Rava, the accordion-player Gianni Coscia, the drummer Stefano Bagnoli, the Portuguese singer Celina Pereira, the saxophone-player Danilo Pala, and the cello-player Ines Hrelja. Two albums have already been published out of this project and a third one is coming out soon in 2005.

In June 2004, Nino La Piana participated as a guest with Mariano Deidda  to the festival “Premio Recanati”, broadcasted by Rai Tre.
